Why I decided to move all my websites to WordPress
Until 3 months ago, i used to build sites on normal HTML templates that i selected from the web.
First i made a header.php file, sidebar.php file, footer.php file, things were simple, until the SEO started to concern me. At that point i realized that is a bad idea to have the same title for all files so i switched to a complete file for each page.
It was a pain to change something to the site. I used to change things twice per year.
I needed a content management system for my websites. WordPress was a smart choice, simple, secure with great community around. I have access to a wide range of themes and plugins.
The move was not easy, i had to do some work. I had to take my normal templates and turn them into wordpress templates. I also needed to move the content, i had only few pages so it is not too much worry. I turned apps that i used there into wordpress plugins.
Things you have to do when moving for a flat site to wordpress:
- Convert the template
- Move content
- Make plugins from your website tools
- Install additional plugins
The advantages of using wordpress:
- Awesome themes
- Plugins for everything
- Great community
- You don’t have to code everything

WordPress is the best platform to use for content management on a website.
It beats all the others hands down–jhoomla, dreamweaver etc.
You save the money which you pay programmers to promote your site. Besides you can learn many trick adn tenchniques as you go along and there are free video tutorial on Youtube.
It is fantastic and most of the themes are free –open source–unless you want some special ones. You can establish a website or blog very quickly.

I find it easier and more fun to build website based on WP as well. It can be an online store, a portfolio site or community – everything goes with WP.

The best thing is that you can add a store, a forum or something else with no effort.

I have been a firm user of WordPress since the 1.5 days (a long time ago), and it is definitely the best platform for blogging and slowly moving forward as a CMS. They are one to watch.
I am glad you have moved out of HTML templates because they are a pain to update and every update is susceptible to a missing closing tag which could cause real problems.

When i build websites i want to do things as fast as i can, and before using wordpress i used simple HTML layouts because i needed only few pages and i needed to do it quick. I avoided to use Joomla or other heavy CMS because i wanted to save time, not to lose.
With wordpress setting up a website is much faster than with simple HTML template and it turns out to be a great simple CMS. The development of wordpress is heading to more and more focused to be a CMS rather than a simple blog.
